Catching Up

The good news is... we finally have a steady Internet connection.
The bad news is... vacation is over and we're back home.
We had a wonderful vacation and saw so much beautiful scenery.

We continued going to several entrances to the Olympic National Park.
The rain forest areas were really neat - so much moss it would grow on everything. Check out the roof of this little outhouse.

Then we headed south down the coast to Oregon. From this point on - we stayed on either Highway 101 or Highway 1. We figured that K & D were on a mission or something. They only took one side trip inland to go to Mount Saint Helen's and the Columbia River Gorge. We couldn't get to the top of the mountain because the roads were still closed because of snow.

We stopped at several waterfalls in the Gorge. Here's one of the most famous - it's Multnomah Falls. We could see a little bridge half way up the falls and watched K as she waved to us from the bridge.

We were also able to get a
great view of Mount Hood.

K wanted a souvenir from the trip and kept trying to get D to bring home an old car - we figured she was just inspired by this persons creativity. (She didn't get the car)

We visited a couple of little fishing villages and spent some time watching bald eagles share a fish - well, he was eating, she was watching.

As we went further south through Oregon we stopped at a couple of light houses. K hiked up to them and actually took a tour of one of them.

After searching for days K finally found the Banana Slug she was looking for.
This little fellow was about 6 inches long and had the diameter of about a 50 cent piece. We don't quite understand the search -
something about D's brother sitting on one when he was a little boy. Woof!

The BEST thing about the Oregon coast is that there are beaches that we can run on... without leashes. There are no people - only sand, waves, and birds. We had the best time running up and down and chasing birds. The beach goes way out into the water and the waves are really small so we can play in the water without worrying about having to swim.

There were lots of these birds - seagulls. They really didn't pay too much attention to us. They just made lots of noise.

There were also a lot of fun things to play with - shells and driftwood.

K & D kept talking about how beautiful the colors of the waves were - but this is how we see things. Humans are sure lucky to see things in color.

We spent a lot of nights camped near or on the beach and this was the view just about every evening.

We're going to go to bed now - but we'll try to post some more pictures tomorrow.
Observation: 5741 miles = a lot of diesel fuel
20 days living in the box = major savings on hotel bills
spending time with K & D = priceless memories
